Welcome to the new South Florida Mod website! For all of the members of the old website, please note that we will be phasing out that website soon. Please re-send us your contact info so we can updated an updated member roster (click on the "Join the Guild" page for instructions).
One of the great parts of this blog is that it gives quilters the opportunity to reach out to other quilters in the guild! To that end, we would like to get everyone talking and introducing themselves. Here are a few questions to get you started:
1. How long have you been quilting?
2. What are your favorite styles or quilting techniques? Wonky log cabins, raw-edge applique, traditional piecing, art quilts, etc. Photos are encouraged!
3. Why are you interested in the South Florida Mod?
4. What would you like to see the South Florida Mod do? Swaps, bees, charity quilts, show and tell, etc?
Feel free to respond in the comments section of this post, or email us to become a blog contributor and create a whole new post! Photos or blog links are always encouraged. :)
I have been quilting for a year and half. I started when I was pregnant with my baby girl, who is now 7 months old!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a favorite style of quilting yet. I just love taking on a new project, because I learn something new with each quilt I make.
I am interested in the South Florida Mod because I want to see other beautiful modern quilts and quilters in person instead of just in my google reader! I can't wait to be inspired by what everyone is doing.
I would like South Florida Mod to have workshops on various quilting techniques. Ideas: color theory, liberated quilting, paper piecing, etc.
Many years ago I did a little traditional and crazy quilting but then put quilting aside until about four years ago.
ReplyDeleteI do mostly art quilts and enjoy making functional quilt pieces such as journals, purses, etc.
I'm looking forward to meeting other quilters in person and sharing our common interests.
I hope to see show and tell, workshops and special workshops with national artists would be great.
Nice to 'meet' you Michelle. I clicked through to see Rosie and her puppies, and they are adorable!
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Nicole, and I am the current website administrator for South Florida Mod.
1. I have been quilting for about 10 years, but I have been seriously quilting for about 4 years.
2. I love pieced quilts, and I tend to make wonky or improvisationally-pieced quilts the most. I also like trying out new techniques such as machine applique, sashiko and English Paper Piecing.
3. I am in the process of moving down to Florida from New York, where I was an active member the Modern Quilt Guild in Manhattan. The guild is a wonderful way for quilters to get together in a relaxed atmosphere and have fun, and I think it will be great to have a similar guild in Florida!
4. I would like to see South Florida Mod do as much as possible! The possibilities are endless!
