November 16th was another rollicking meeting of the Jupiter branch of the South Florida Modern Quilt Guild. We were happy to welcome a few of our northern friends back to sunny Florida , and look forward to many more over the next few months.
Show and Tell was, as always, inspiring. We loved Kathy’s modern paper pieced Christmas trees, and Marian’s lovely quilt – hard to believe that only two fabrics were used to make that fun and funky quilt.

Debbie got us in the mood for our hands-on project by showing us an awesome updated hexagon quilt. Her perfectly fussy cut Day of the Dead motifs were incredible.
Joan then led us all through a hand pieced hexagon pin cushion project. For once, there was total silence in the room as we all stitched our hexagons together.
Barbara was the recipient of this month's Block Party blocks. The cool blues and greens in the blocks members turned in looked terrific next to the warmer peach background strips.
Nan is January's block recipient. She asked for 14 ½ inch string pieced blocks, to be used in a quilt for the Quilting Angels group.
All are invited to make one – or more – blocks for her to use for this good cause. Use fun, kid-friendly prints and solids to make these blocks! They’re fun and fast to make. You can pick up instructions from Nan at Quilters’ Choice if need be.
Triangles were the theme for the past month’s Block Swap group. There were wonderful blocks presented, and Alaine was the lucky recipient of those blocks. For January, two 16 1/2 inch rectangles are requested.
December 7 was our Sew Day at Quilters Choice. Everyone brought a project work on and we contentedly spent the day talking, encouraging, advising and sharing lots of things, including some delicious contributions!
We’re also looking forward to the next South Florida Mod meeting – Debbie is preparing a demonstration, and maybe even a hands-on activity, that is sure to leave us inspired and challenged. See you then!
